Project Week: English Camp Day 1

This project week, the local sub-district office called on GVI to host a two-day English camp at the local national park, Tharnbok Koranee. Three schools from the sub-district of Ao Luk Thai were invited to send their 5th and 6th graders to the camp - and we even had some 3rd and 4th graders too! There were 56 students in total that were treated to two days of fun and English learning. The students were split in to three teams: Green Geckos, Red Monkeys and Yellow Elephants.

For day one we had three teaching groups covering numbers and time, fruit and vegetables, and clothing and colors. We had a bout of rainy weather, which made for a noisy day as two of the groups were confined to the visitor's center. Even so each group had a variety of activities that kept the students entertained and during breaks we had a crowd favorite on offer: face painting!

The day ended with a group meeting where students and teachers could plan and practice a team cheer, in preparation for the cheer competition planned for the following afternoon. By the end of the practice session, each team was off to a good start. It's anybody's guess who will be the big winner tomorrow!
