GVI Thailand Canvas Bags
At long last GVI Thailand has finally come out with a canvas bag to use for encouraging local communities to cut back on plastics and serve as an educational tool. For the last year and a half GVI Thailand has been teaching environmental education workshops to local school students focusing on about litter and recycling in their communities. GVI volunteers also help with regular clean up days in local communities to encourage them to keep their communities clean. Thailand is notorious for the excessive use of plastic bags which often end up littering villages, roads and the country's water ways and natural areas. GVI Thailand hopes to utilize these bags to encourage community members and GVI volunteers to say no to plastic bags and help create a cleaner, greener Ao Luk.
One side says "GVI rak Ao Luk". 'Rak' means love in Thai.
The other side reads "Keep Ao Luk Clean. Say no to plastic bags." in English and in Thai. The figure is from a 3,000-5,000 year old cave painting found in Ao Luk that has become a symbol for the district.
