Kayaking Trip

Ah, the rewards of hard work! After a busy first week of the expedition the volunteers had a great kayaking trip paddling through the mangroves and caves at Bor Tor. On the trip through the caves there were awesome rock formations carved out of the limestone mountain. It was like a trip back in time. Jurassic Park anyone? And what’s a kayak trip without a bit of friendly soakings-especially on a hot day! The kayakers continued on to Tham Pee Hua Tho National Park Cave. The cave is known for its ancient wall paintings dating back more than 3000 years. The cave got its name from the most prominent wall painting resembling a ghost. As the group walked through the cave they saw stalagmites and stalactites still growing. At the top of the cave the panoramic view across the expansive mangroves and the misty mountains was spectacular. Back in Bor Tor the day was capped off with a delicious seafood lunch at the pier restaurant overlooking the water. A great, fun-filled day was had by all!
