Renovation Project: The Wrap Up

After two weeks of hard work, the center looks amazing! Our volunteers made a lasting impact on the community of Ao Luk. With the start of our English Teaching Internship and the start our new term of classes, students and teachers were again using the classrooms and the changes were not lost on anyone. As we wrapped up renovations, we got signs of approval from our teachers and students, the teachers at the Non-Formal Education Center and others in the community. Thank you guys for all your hard work!

In closing, here’s a final tally of what we accomplished!

  • Two walls reinforced with new beams and studs
Three of four wall surfaces covered with sturdy plywood
Painting: one classroom, three new walls, exterior doors and railings
    Floor of downstairs classroom painted
Fabric-covered corkboards installed in all classrooms
    Bamboo whiteboard penholders
    Some much needed landscaping
    Signs for the classrooms
Flagpole (and yes, these guys did make one from scratch….you rock!)
