Krabi Cleaning Day: Phang-Nga Bay

This week for the village project, GVI was invited to take part in a Krabi Cleaning day in the area of Phang-Nga Bay. Volunteers set out in 2 longtail boats from Laem Sak Pier guided by some local fisherman who took us out to the limestone karst outcrops in Phang-Nga Bay.

The bay is well known for its dramatic karst scenery and it is home to the island where the James Bond film "The Man with the Golden Gun" was filmed. It was a perfect day for a cleaning up a beach, with blue skies and even bluer waters.

We were taken to a secluded beach on one of the islands and got straight to work cleaning up the trash that unfortunately gets washed up on the shores. The fishermen who brought us also helped us with the clean up.

When the cleaning was done, the local men took volunteers up to see a cave just a bit further inland. While others had time to swim in the bay and relax on the beach which was then followed by a picnic lunch.
