Beginning of another 5 weeks!

5 new Expedition Members arrived to the GVI base in Ao Luk, Thailand to take part in a 5 week Teaching and Community Development Expedition. They are coming from the United States and England to take part in a 100-hour TEFL qualification and community development projects such as teaching free English classes at the nearby community centre and assisting with other projects such as trash pick-ups, mangrove planting, and working with school children in the region. They are joining 6 other newly qualified TEFL teachers who are ready to take on their own classes in the community.

The newbies joined in on 3 days of orientation which included health and safety information, chore and cooking workshops, and introductions into teaching and projects in the community. Down time included a trip to the National Park and a barbecue dinner. Than Bok Khoranee National park was magical as usual with its crystal stream that meanders throughout the park creating inviting pools for escaping the afternoon heat.
