Tiger Temple Side Trip!
Saturday, on the 16th of October I was able to go see Tiger Temple just outside of Krabi town. The day began at 6:00 in the morning and we headed off to the South Market to pick up some freshly made doughnuts and fruit. Dan, Daria, myself, Ella, Zac, and James all headed off to the temple and we had no idea how tough it was going to be! Once we arrived, the first thing I noticed were all the monkeys wandering about. Supposedly, they like to get a little mischievous and steal people's things but I had no problems with them and found them quite entertaining. It begin to rain so we headed into the temple where morning prayers were going on. The prayers were being recited over the sound system and everyone in the temple was repeating the same words in a silent state of meditation.
The monks were just beginning to eat breakfast when Dan, myself, and James decided to head up to the top of the temple. It had begun to rain and the 1, 237 steps up were a wet but rewarding climb up a steep cliff with some of the stairs being almost a vertical climb. Once to the top we met two monks and they had just finished camping out up on the top of the Tiger Temple. They were very nice and knew some English. They asked us where we were from and asked if I was able to see things like the view atop Tiger Temple back home. It was a great view. We then headed back down the 1, 237 steps which weren't as tough as going up but it was still quite a challenge.
