Student Conservation Camp

The 25th of July, GVI Thailand assisted Than Bok National Park with a Student Conservation Camp for 47 school students aged 12-15 years old. Students spent the weekend playing games and participating in workshop about nature, conservation and the national park. GVI teachers came in on Friday afternoon to do some fun, interactive English activities with the students focused on practicing language that they may be able to use with tourists visiting the park and other tourist attractions throughout the district of Ao Luk. Students were split up into 4 groups and rotated through a number of activities focused on teaching language about colors, body parts, numbers, telling time, animals, and items found in nature.

At the ending ceremony GVI teachers presented each student with a canvas bag. These bags were designed in partnership between GVI and Than Bok Khorani National Park and has both logos. The other image on the bag has messages in both Thai and English to stop global warming. The canvas bags are to be used in place of plastic bags when shopping to cut down on the litter created by plastic bags as well as the harmful chemicals generated from creating plastic which lead to global warming.
