Visit with Hanlie!

Hanlie was one of GVI's volunteers who completed her 100 hour TEFL in Ao Luk, Thailand in October 2010. Coming from South Africa, Hanlie was eager to venture on a new experience and planned on putting her TEFL to good use by getting a job teaching English in Thailand. It ended up being much easier than she possibly imagined! Because of GVI's reputation in the area and connections in the community Hanlie landed a teaching job at a secondary school in Plai Praya in November 2010, just in time for the new school term. One of the Thai English teachers in Plai Praya is an old GVI English student who graduated from Level 6 English classes in the Ao Luk community. In the past GVI has assisted the Plai Praya school with English camps and English contests.

Today we popped in to see Hanlie in Plai Praya to see how she's doing. We caught her in her last lesson of the day and managed to get a photo of her with one of her classes. We wish Hanlie the best of luck with the rest of the school year! The Thai school year finishes up in March but Hanlie is hoping to extend her stay and continue on teaching in the Land of Smiles!
