End of Term/Halloween Party!

The Singing Mummy

On Friday the GVI base hosted yet another end of term party, an opportunity for GVI teachers and the local community to celebrate the end of the 27th term of free English classes in the Ao Luk community.

Since the party also fell 2 days before Halloween everyone was invited to dress in costumes. Witches, skeletons, mummies, pumpkins, cowboys, ladybugs and mimes were just some of the guests that haunted the GVI base in Ao Luk that night.

The beginning of the night started with Halloween activities for the kiddies and included face painting, apple bobbing and feel bowls with eyeballs (grapes) and brains (rice noodles). As the evening went on everyone ate and drank and chatted.

Laura and Harri singing a farewell duet

Nine newly trained TEFL teachers received their TEFL certificates. Three winners of the student costume contest were awarded with GVI T-shirts and we said farewell to 2 staff members, Laura and Harri, who will soon be returning home to pursue their graduate degrees in education. Both of them have both enjoyed their experience as teachers in Ao Luk and plan to continue on a lifelong career as educators! Finally the microphone was handed over to the singing mummy and the party continued.
