Beginning of a New Term of Free English Classes

The 14th of May 2008 marked the beginning of our 8th term of free English classes for the community at the Ao Luk Non-Formal Education Center. This end of this term will mark a completed year of classes and expeditions for Thai students in the community as well as Expedition Members (EMs) and staff with GVI Thailand. The continued support from the community and the evolution and creation of more exciting education, conservation, and development projects in the community is amazing and exciting. The beginning of this term brought us 76 enthusiastic students on the first day with numbers rising throughout the week. For the first time we are proud to add a Level 6 class for 5 students who have worked their way through the English Program. 4 EMs who recieved their TEFL certificates in the first 5 weeks have moved on to teaching their own classes at the NFE Center with continued support from their trainers. 4 new EMs have joined in the second 5 weeks of the expedition and are working on their TEFL qualification and gaining practical experience through teaching Level 1 and 2 classes.
