National Park English Classes

Than Bok Khoranee National Park- just a 10 minute walk from the GVI base!

By request by the Director at the nearby Than Bok Khoranee National Park, GVI is providing free English lessons Monday-Thursday evenings for national park employees.

Than Bok Khoranee National Park is located a stone's throw away from the GVI base in Ao Luk. Over the last few years GVI Thailand has worked with the national park to organize English lessons, English and Conservation camps, trash pick ups, mangrove plantings and assistance with translating park signs and menus. As the national park gets a decent amount of traffic by foreign visitors, the director feels it is important for employees to get added English language training to communicate with these guests.

Ella, a past volunteer and current GVI staff member, started teaching the initial month long class on Tuesday from 4:30-5:30 pm, just after employees complete their work day and prepare to go home. The class was held in an outdoor pavilion at the park, creating a relaxed classroom setting. Initially the 8 students were a bit shy, but as they became accustomed to their teacher and the language everyone relaxed and enjoyed the first class of the term.
