New CBT English Class in Kuwan-O

GVI is offering a new English class for the rural community of Kuwan-O located in the Ao Luk Noi sub district of Ao Luk. Kuwan- O is one of the 8 villages involved in the Ao Luk Community Based Tourism (CBT) Network which GVI has recently partnered with. One of our 10 week TEFL volunteers is visiting the village 4 evenings a week to teach basic English speaking and listening skills for the community to provide them with the ability to communicate with tourists coming into their community. Kwan-O is famous for Ko Karos, a karst island formation bordering on monkey filled mangroves and emerald seas and complete with hidden caves and grottoes and ancient cave paintings.

The first week of classes has proved to be a success and numbers have grown from 18 students to over 30 throughout the week. Even the local goats stop in on a daily basis! Topics this week included questions and answers and numbers.
