End of Term/End of Year Party

Normally then end of term party takes place on the Friday but since it coincided with the King’s birthday it was postponed until Wednesday night. Because of the change in date to a weeknight the party was more intimate then usual (only about 50 guests) but it was still a great time. As usual there was delicious food, karaoke and drinks galore.

In celebration of the end of the year the party had a Christmas/New Years theme. The GVI team decorated the base with tinsel and fairy lights and there was even a visit from Santa Claus (Anita’s dad was visiting who luckily resembled Santa more than anyone else on base) during the night. The students loved it! Santa had a bag full of goodies to hand out to the students. One student actually pretyped a letter to Santa (in English!) telling him what a good student she was and asking for a red GVI T-shirt. Santa couldn't resist and gave her exactly what she asked for!

3 EMs, John Stevens, Andria Loughnan, and Brenton McDonald received their 100 hour TEFL certificate. The party was a great opportunity for them to celebrate their achievements and get to spend time with their students outside the classroom.
