Party!!!
Friday the 13th was the perfect day for our 8th end-of-term party, completing a year of teaching in Ao Luk. It was a great opportunity for students and teachers to get together outside of the classroom. More than 70 guests showed up for an evening of delicious food, cold drinks, English and Thai karaoke, and good times.
Some special awards and announcements were made throughout the evening. 4 Expedition Members (EMs) were awarded their TEFL certificates, making them qualified teachers. 4 other EMs were recognized for their fine work teaching their own class in the community. We said a public goodbye to interns who will be moving on and welcomed a new staff member, intern, and teacher in the community. 4 special students were awarded certificates and GVI shirts for completion of a full year of English classes, totallying over 160 hours of English lessons from GVI Thailand. Kitti, a Level 6 student that has studied with GVI since the first mini-term in June 2007, was named Student Representative. His role is to be the voice of GVI students in Ao Luk and to be a point person for problems and suggestions that students may have. We're so proud of everyone for their achievements!
