Last week of classes in Laem Sak

For 5 weeks, one of GVI's 9 month teaching interns has been living and teaching in the coastal Sub-District of Laem Sak in Ao Luk. By day he has been teaching students at the local Muslim school and in the evening he teaches teenagers and adults in the surrounding community.

The placement was requested by GVI's local partners, the Ao Luk Community Based Tourism Network. In Laem Sak tourists can take local long-tailed boats out to various islands and beaches in the surrounding area. Bamboo raft houses provide a rustic accommodation on the water. Laem Sak provides a unique way to experience the local fishing culture of southern Thailand.

As this term ends the community will take a short break from English classes before getting a new intern placed in the community in July. More on that to come soon!
