End of term party in Kuwan O

Today was the final day of a 4 week English course for the community of Kuwan O, a village participating in the Ao Luk Community Based Tourism Network, one of GVI Thailand's local partners. A TEFL volunteer and a staff member taught English classes for adults and children in the community to improve their English skills as a means of communicating with the increase of foreign tourists visiting their community. Kuwan O is a small fishing village with long-tailed boat rides and kayaking trips through mangrove channels, karst caves and the open seas.

For the final day of classes GVI's teachers, Alex and Emma got both groups of adults and children together for a scavenger hunt using vocabulary they had learned over the last month. Certificates of attendance were awarded to regular students and everyone enjoyed some snacks and chatted.

The community and the teachers all had a great time together over the last 4 weeks. GVI teachers will be back in July, providing teachers 3 days a week at the local primary school!
