Crazy Kayaking After a Week of TEFL Training

After a successfully challenging first week of teaching we were all looking forward to a well-earned break. The excitement was over whelming as this was also the first chance of getting to explore a bit of Thailand for the majority. After we all let our hair down and boogied with a few of the residents of Ao Luk at a local bar on Friday night, we arose bright and early on Saturday to set off for a morning of kayaking. I could not get over how completely stunning the scenery was, words literally cannot describe it. As we all clambered two by two into the kayaks, it quickly became apparent that Caitlin and I were perhaps not ideal partners! The few hours that followed were filled with a great deal of screaming, colourful and horrific language, crashing into cave walls, local shrubbery, trees and everyone else! We even caused Kim and Ro to show off some impressive limbo moves as we forced them into some on-coming trees, sorry about that guys!

The beauty of Thailand continued as we spent the rest of the weekend in paradise, otherwise known as Ao Nang. We have all fallen hook line and sinker for the lovely locals, the fab food, and the breath-taking beach. We all completely spoilt ourselves and loved every minute of it. Despite getting horrifically sunburnt (I did put on sun cream mum, I promise!), it was an amazing weekend. Cannot wait for the rest, especially the Tiger Temple challenge of 1237 steps, which I’m sure will create situations that’ll continue the comical tone of last weekend…
