The Heights of Tiger Temple

The end of our second week and we were off to an early start - leaving the base at 6am! Although still tired, we were at least fully awake by the time we arrived at our destination. We were struck by the height of the temple, but this wasn't the real reason for coming here. Our aim was the staircase leading up the side of the karst next to the temple. Although it started gently, soon the height of the steps had grown and each one became more of a challenge than the last - especially the stretch of narrow stairs reaching almost up to our knees! By the time we got to the top, we were exausted and completley out of breath from the climb - but it was worth it. At the top is a giant Buddha statue, and amazing views - even though it was slightly hazy, we could see for miles! We could rest happily for a few minutes, before facing the next challenge - going back down all those stairs...
